(St. Catharines, Ontario)
This plant is over 2 metres high with very big leaves. It has flowers that some describe as pink and some say are purple. At first we thought it was a sunflower when it started growing this year since we had sunflowers in the same area last year. There is nothing like it in any of our neighbours' yards.

We put in a new flower bed this year and this plant volunteered on its own to come up. Have no idea what it is but loved the dark green and purple leaves and then this week I noticed it is getting pink spikes on it now with fuzzy white at the bottom of the spikes. It has grown about 4-5 feet this summer.

pink-red perennial

(Davenport, IA)
Hello...
I am embarrassed to ask, but I need this VERY common spring perennial identified. My mind has been drawing a blank for two days on this flower I should know.
It is blooming now. A beer can was placed in the photo for size determination. It is in morning and afternoon sun missing the 4 hottest hours of the day.
I suspect everyone will take one glance and instantly say, "Why that is (fill in the blank)".
Many thanks to all who can help my major brain fart.
It is appreciated!!!

Beautiful pink mystery flower
by Jennifer Bowen
(Alabama)
This pretty pink flower has started blooming in my flowerbed in early March in Luverne, Alabama. It kind of reminds me of a type of Tulip, but I don't remember buying Tulips for my garden. It has a realy pretty light, but hot pink color flower with just a few green leaves that grow from the bottom of the plant. The entire flower is low to the ground like the Tulips I have seen around here, but the leaves are different, so I'm not sure. I would love to have more of these, but I'm not sure what they are. Thank you so much for helping me! I hope this picture is ok, but if not, I will be glad to try and get closer.

Help identify this plant!
This plant is abundant in a neighboring yard in in New Orleans, LA. These plants are in full sun and have been in bloom since May and are still in bloom. The pale pink flowers are atop a very long leafy stem -- the leaves look almost like scales. The plant is stalky and about 4-6 feet tall. Each stalk has tiny thin pods shooting from it making it appear "hairy."
The leaves on the base of the plant (not the stem) are palmately compound.

Please Help Identify This Pink Shrub/Bush

I found this shrub - more like a huge bush probably 15 feet tall and at least 25 feet wide, and covered with pink blossoms - in the NC mountains last Friday. I have searched shrubs and trees normally found in the NC mountains, but still cannot locate this one. Obviously, it blooms in April. I included an inset in the photo to show how the branches are loaded with flowers. Hope you can help. Thanks! Teresa

Low growing plant with pink flowers

(Lehi, UT, USA)
This is a low growing plant with finger leaves at base (kind of grows in the ground like a moss) and 3-4" stem with pink or dark pink flower at top. I have taken a sample to several nurseries in my area but they don't know what it is. I believe I bought it at Kmart many years ago and would like more. I live 25 miles south of Salt Lake City, UT. The plant seems to like semi-shade or shade and is growing in fairly sandy soil. It is flowering now (early to middle May).

pink flowers reseeds
by Wendy
(Belleville, ON, Canada)
The plant in the picture is growing in my backyard in Belleville, Ontario. Grows to heights of 6' and more and have different shades of flowers on it, the stems are "watery" similar to what portulaca would be like but are large and sturdy. Because it reseeds itself the roots that hold it in are sometimes less than 1/2 inch long, when they reseed themselves they do well in the sun and in the shade; I have tried to transplant some and they didn't do to badly in the shade but not in a sunny spot.
Thank you in advance for helping me find out what this beautiful flower is.

large leafed plant with heart shaped pink seed pods
by Susan Hawthorne
(Portsmouth, VA)
What am I?
I don't know if this is supposed to be a house plant or a garden plant. A shoot was given to me and the person didn't know. It has grown tall, like jack and the beanstalk!! I've had it several years and this year for the first time, it bloomed. At least I thought it did, then discovered that the "flowers" were actually seed pods. they're a deep pink and heart shaped and the seed is in the top part.
I hope someone knows what this is. It loves it in summer when I put it on my screened porch and it's humid and hot (I live in Eastern VA on the coast).

5' tall with narrow leaves and small pink/lilac flowers
by SS
(Edmonton, AB, Canada)
Hi there,
I am in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada (Zone 3a) in a house where the previous owners had a beautiful perennial garden. I have been able to identify many of them but this particular kind I cannot. These perennials grew from seed and have grown to almost 5 feet. I have searched for days but haven't been able to find out what it is. The closest I can link it to be is some kind of Delphinium, but which kind?
It grows in partial shade where sunlight hits no more than three hours a day. It has appeared under my apple tree too but it hasn't grown that tall at that spot. So it definitely likes the sun.
Please help!

Pink-flowering Shrub
by Marjorie Goertzen
(Rose Prairie, British Columbia)
Thank you to all of you who take time to examine and attempt to identify this delightful little flowering shrub! It is one of the first plants to bloom in our perennial flowerbeds here in northeastern British Columbia, north of Fort St. John. Delicate five-petaled pink blossoms, about 1 1/4 inches in diameter, emerge before the leaves have fully unfurled. The deep green leaves are finely serrated, about 1 inch long and 1/2 inch wide, each being attached to the branch of the bush (i.e. not compound). Late in the summer, a few oval brown seed-pods may develop, with a rough coat similar to the skin of kiwi fruit. The bush, which is about 3 1/2 feet tall. does well on the east side of the house, where it receives sunshine in the morning, and shade from about noon onward.

Tall, velvety stems with pink flowers
by Pras
(DC)
Sage-like flowering plant in DC
This is growing in my garden in DC. Just moved in and this seems to be self-seeding/ perennial.
In winter I cut back some very bushy dry woody growth on these plants from last year then in spring pulled the bushy parts out altogether. Small velvety leaved grayish growth appeared through the dead growth, and around it, stifling nearby bulbs. I thinned it out and the young growth had small but sturdy root systems, and the remaining stems are now about a foot tall. It has flat, hot pink flowers blooming since the start of this week. Leaves grow in opposite pairs, folding off the stem but flattening out and leaf texture is similar to lambs leaf or sage. The plant is very resilient through snow, hail, rain and hot sun this spring and is aggressively spreading to my lawn.
What is this plant and will it take over my entire garden?!!

What type of Pink Poppy?
by Linda
(Port Angeles, WA, USA)
Made up of hundreds of soft pink petals, when finished blooming they cover the ground in pink.
Got the seeds from a friend last summer after I saw her poppies in bloom around a small pond. I thought they were peonies from the distance.
Tossed the seeds around the east and south perimeter of our new house and I think every last one of them germinated! Just recently I've been given Himalayan poppy seeds (purple, purple fringe and red fringe) and oriental poppies and California poppies ...
I would love to know if this is a Himalayan and it's name. Also, does anyone have it in a different color?
