This weed spreads very quickly. We live in western New York State - dad would have us go into the corn fields when the corn was tall and pull these. We hated them.

Okay, we got a lot of comments but no definitive answers. Had one grow two years in a row, and like some of you, still don't know what they are. You'd think someone with some knowledge about these plants wouldn've piped in by now! Help!

Had those in Illinois, my elderly neighbor, called them a toilet paper plant! She said if you were out in the woods and needed t.p., yo could use them!

It's called Velvetleaf: Abutilon theophrasti,technically it is a weed.
