Zinnia in Cottage Garden

Zinnia in Cottage Garden

I took this picture in September. I love Zinnias. They are so colorful and easy to grow. I simply scatter the seed heads each fall in my Cottage Garden and they are very faithful to come back the next spring.

I planted this moon flower with the morning glories only to realize that they bloom opposite each other. One at night, the other in the morning. Beautiful though.

Closeup of Ruffly Orange Begonia

Closeup photo of a bright orange begonia on a black background.

I brought in some begonia blossoms after they'd snapped off from a heavy rain. I shook off the water and laid this one down on my desk to photograph. The photo turned out so nice, except for the fact that I'd set the blossom on a bunch of mail! Fortunately, I was able to erase the distractions and let the blossom speak for itself!

Blue Browallia

This is the first time that I've ever grown this flower. I bought five, but this is the only one that has survived. I'm not sure why...I guess I still have a lot to learn about this flower.

Finnegan was patiently waiting for me to play w/ her while I snapped more and more photos of my flowers. I looked over and saw her laying by the Cosmos and snapped this picture...and yes- played catch w/ her right after this lovely shot.

This is the first year we have had a real garden so I let my daughter plant sunflowers against the fence. They all ended up being over 14 ft tall and the largest flower is 18 in across.

Frog on dahlia

Dahlia day spa

Dahlia day spa

This Pacific tree frog climbed into a dahlia in my garden, and spent the day there. He was asleep some of the time, but did not fall out. These frogs have pads that enable them to climb and, apparently, to hang on to flimsy perches. He left at nightfall.

White Picotee Begonia with Hot Pink edges

I have four hanging baskets in my yard and each year I try different varieties of begonias. It's a flower that keeps on giving all summer long, with the most activity in color during the cooler days of Autumn. This is just one of my many favorite varieties.

Cosmos with colour accent on centre

by Lee
(Syston Leicestershire, U.K.)

Cosmos

Cosmos

Taken at the gardens surrounding the Lake Side Walk adjecent to the Nottingham University in the U.K. (South Entrance). The flower is a Cosmos and I used a Canon G9 digital camera with the function Colour Accent to only accentuate the yellow centre. The original pink petals have been filtered out to appear black and white.

I hope you enjoy my photo. If I was to put an inspiration type title to this photo I would call it "Times may be dark but their is always light at the end of the tunnel".
