Bush/Plant with berries -need to identify

by Kelli
(Ohio)

This is growing in our back yard in town along a fence line. There are two different shaped leaves on the same stem and berries growing along the stem that tend to turn black/purple after ripening from red.

I have a couple of other pics if it would help in identifying based on leaf variation or how the berries are attached up the stem.

I had one other person tell me they thought it was a mulberry. Wonder if it would be red or white mulberry tree? I think red is more common in Ohio.

Yes, the flowers on the end of the stem are more teardrop shaped while the rest are like the ones in the picture.

Possible mulberry

My mom just told me yesterday that the same thing in my back yard is a mulberry tree. It has a clump of four or five trunks, the berries are quite small (smaller than the raspberries or blackberries you find in groceries), and for whatever reason, the last leaf or two on each branch is different from the one pictured.
