Artichoke !

It is definately artichoke, i have three of them blooming in my house right now! Whats so beautiful, is that they look dry and dying just before the flower emerges.

Can't tell the size of your plant. Cardoon is a relative of Artichoke. Both are Thistles. Quite the show stopper your plant.
