Here's the real deal on growing tulips cretively. You're only limited by your imagination. These flower bulb pictures only show 4 ways to use potted tulips for amazing spring displays that you can do in your garden.

Mind you, to duplicate these you need a bathtub, an inner-tube and a pond. :-)

So here's the question - how else would you use them in your garden? How can you take advantage of interesting locations to insert a few pots of bulbs. That's the easiest way of course - simply grow the bulbs (or buy them in the spring) in pots and then insert the pot into the container for spring blooms. Remove the pot after it has finished blooming and replant with something else.

To overwinter (easily) plant 2-3 tulips in a 6-inch pot and then sink the pot into the ground so the rim is at the same depth as the ground (or slightly above). The tulips will winter there. Next spring, dig the pots up when the tulips start showing green leaves and plant them (pot and all) in containers. After blooming is done - remove and replace with other plants for season long bloom.

Have fun - you're only limited by your imagination.

hyacinths @ nose height

I have a couple of old metal milk cans. These are placed strategically by a walkway. On top of the milk cans, I rest a container full of bulbs.

The tulips in the vertical tree stump are magnificent. And the tire in the pond is great, too. Is the tire anchored or is it free floating? I love hyacinths, and am trying to find a way to creatively plant them so they are closer to "nose height" so we can enjoy their scent. Does anyone have a suggestion on how to accomplish this? We don't have anyplace to hang baskets so that is out. Thanks!
