Deadheading Perennial Flowers Video

When it comes to growing a great perennial flower garden, there are a few things to learn. One of those things is how to prune perennial flowers.
There are two basic things to understand:
The first is that when deadheading (cutting off the stems and stalks of spent flowers) there are two main ways the flower-stem is attached to the main parent plant.
The first is from a point very close to the ground. In this case, cut the stem as close to the ground or bottom of the stem as you can.
The second is from upper areas of the plant - off the main stem or even part of the main stem. In this case, cut off the stem as close to that main stem as possible. If you happen to cut into it, it's no big deal (unless there are flowers above the stem you're cutting off)
