deer resistant vegetables

What vegetable crops will deer not typically eat besides onions and garlic?

Doug says he's surprised they don't eat those things. :-)

Don't bet on finding anything else in the leafy green category of tender growth.

They'll browse on most leafy growth although I've never seen them go after the squash family and most melons. Corn once it gets high enough hasn't been a problem for me.

But this is a darn good question and I'm going to pose it to my newsletter readers and see what they have to say. Watch here for comments.

Groundhogs and other pests
by: tom

Groundhogs can be shot; trapped and motion detected water sprayed. I have not been able to eliminate them, only to discourage them. When i find a groundhog investigating the deck, I conclude they are not afraid of human stuff. While deer may not bother tall corn?, the coons certainly do. They are easier to trap than groundhogs (live trap, so as to avoid pets.)

Deer Resistant Ideas

I have used cat litter, also. I just dump the "scooped out stuff" near my plants. This really makes a great difference particularly when the tulips start to bloom.

deer deterent
by: Linda

I have tried everything to keep the deer out of my periennel garden. This last spring (2009) someone told me to use, used kitty litter. I use the scoopable kind, so I just scoop out the clumps and keep the rest to sprinkle in the garden, be careful no to sprinkle it on leaves. IT HAS WORKED GREAT
