Did not protect knock out rose bushes this winter

I have knockout roses (many) set in flower beds around house. I live in NE Texas above Tyler. I did not protect roses as I though would be mild winter again. We have had many hard freezes. Can these rose bushes survive without overwintering in zone 8.

Doug says he suspects you want to know if these roses can survive or overwinter without protection and the answer is a clear yes. They survive in my USDA 4/5 garden with no protection.

But with tongue in cheek - can these roses survive without overwintering the answer is only if you have a place with no winter. :-) Sorry, couldn't resist....
