Early bloomer
by Tom Ivison
(Wasaga Beach, On)
We were told that this plant was called a Painted Hosta,
though I can not find it in our local garden centers. The leaves are about 2 inches by 1 inch, oval, pointed end.
The leaves are green with pinkish blotches, The flowers are small, about one half inch, and are both pink and mauve, in clusters. The soil is fertile, well drained, the location is mostly shady. It is a perennial.
We live in Wasaga Beach, On. We are zone 6. The plant starts blooming very early spring and continues untill late fall.
