emu plant

my neighbor gifted me with what she called an emu plant. Its kind of bushy-looking, resembling a rosemary plant, sort of. We're in Riverside, CA and I wonder if it will do well when I put it in my garden.
Doug says he's never grown this plant because he lives in the north - not Australia where it's from. But as long as it doesn't get below -4F in your area, you're good :-) I'm told to plant in dappled shade for best results and enjoy the blooms. Do plan on giving it enough space to grow (about 6-10 feet tall and equally wide)
