Fiberglass container causing plants to die??

by ryan
(cambridge, ma)

I planted lettuces and nasturtiums (separately) and all five of these containers seem to have been doing well and now are yellowing rapidly.

Is it possible that the containers (which I believe are fiberglass?) are poisonous? They're old-school file boxes...

Or maybe that they are too shallow? They measure 5" deep.

Doug says that the fibreglass containers are not the problem. It's something in your growing conditions. And I don't have enough info to tell you what the problem is. Yellowing leaves come from a huge variety of problems - from light levels, soil structure, fertility, watering etc. Let me suggest you browse the container gardening section for some tips on feeding and watering.

good luck with it
