Green foliage with flower spikes

by Nancy Brauner
(Mandeville, LA)

This plant was purchased from the local Lowe's. It was not identified. The flowers, when in bloom, are blueish - purple. Before I plant it, I would like to know about its growing pattern. The container says 'sun perennial'. Once I have the name of the plant, I can research it to find out what I need.
