Common name velvet leaf

This is an invasive annual that reseeds. The seeds from this plant can survive over 50 years and cause big problems for farmers. If you want less chemicals in your food supply get rid of it. My suggestion would be to burn it. At least remove all seed pods and dispose of in some kind of container with your local trash service.

I believe this is a weed. We have them in Indiana. Look at the fields and along the roads. I imagine you'll see them there also.
