Looks like a weed that is prevalent here in the South. If I remember correctly, it gets thorny seed pods on it as well. Pretty distinctive scent as I recall.

This plant is called a velvet leaf. It is a weed and is very obnoxious, especially in corn and beans

Looks like a perennial hibiscus

I've been googling for a while to find this plant. This is the closest I found. I have one growing in a stony area. I broke it off at ground when it was about the size of this picture but now it has grown to be 4-5' tall with huge leaves. No flowers yet. I joke and say it's Jack's beanstalk! It's similar to the stalk and leaves of the sunflower but it's not that.
