I've heard it called Mexican hat also. But it looks like it may be a slightly different variety... I've also read it is very deadly to animals and children.

That is one of the common names of this plant. I think it is quite a charming name and very descriptive of its behaviour.

i think its a type of brylophyte i may be spelling it wrong i have a similar one once and if the babies fall to soil it will grow,root another plant
