Growing Fruit

Growing fruit in the home garden is one of the delights of summer. If you can imagine the delight in eating your own sun-warmed raspberries (or layering them on ice cream as I like to do) or harvesting your own plump strawberries, then you're a candidate for fruit growing.

Raspberries

Here's how to grow raspberries. My absolute favorite small fruit is the raspberry. I've grown it semi-commercially and on the home scale and I confess I have a love affair with this plant.

Strawberries

Here's how to grow strawberries. While I don't think strawberries are as good as raspberries, there is no question that a freshly-picked strawberry from your own garden (dripping with flavor and staining your hands a summer-red) is a treat indeed.

Rhubarb

Here's how to grow the rhubarb Who could – or would want to – be without rhubarb in their garden. This is perhaps the easiest to grow of all the small fruits and I admit to making a pretty good rhubarb pie. – the pie recipe is up to you.
