Heavenly Blue Morning Glory

by Carolyn
(East Wallingford, VT)

Two summers ago, after 8 years of trying, I finally got a profuse crop of Heavenly Blue morning glories. I captured these blossoms one late-August morning when the vines finished climbing the facade of my deck and burst triumphantly into bloom at the top.

We live at 1200 feet in south-central Vermont and usually run out of summer before the morning glories, tomatoes, and other warm-season annuals have finished. But this time, perfect!

Morning glory legality
by: Carolyn

Not to worry -- morning glories are legal in the U.S. If not, then a whole lot of catalogues and nurseries will get in trouble with the law!

My Heavenly Blues
by: Anonymous

I planted some of the Heavenly Blue Morning Glories in late spring of last year, they bloomed so beautifully and then the oddest thing happened. Some of the blooms blossomed out to be opposite color, they were white with blue stripes instead of the usual blue color. Why would that have happened?

Heavenly!!
by: Sapphi

ah yes, the heavenly blues... I grew them in S. Michigan one year... they grew amazingly thick and fast, over two trellises on a balcony... I had the only shady balcony in the neighborhood... and at night I had some white ones that bloomed at night... that was interesting... what a fragrance too... but those blues in the mornings were such a treat... lovely shot!
