how do you kill rhubarb roots?

I'm growing my first garden and rhubarb has taken over the entire area. I started to dig and chase the roots, I am exhausted. They are everywhere. So is there something I can do or do I have to get all the roots dug up?

Doug says keep digging. :-) And put them at the end of the driveway for others to take home and plant. I love rhubarb! :-)
