I have two questions from your book Successful Lawns

I have the Successful Organic Lawns E-Book, you list the nine steps to a successful lawn does it matter the order of the compost and corn gluten as I aways find the forsythias are in bloom before I have time to get my compost?
Also You mention ryegrass for topdressing. What if you have an area that is bare, is this grass seed still okay or should you have a blend of different seeds?

And I love the book!

Doug says to use the compost in the fall and corn gluten in the spring if you want to separate them by season. If you want to put them on in the same season, no issue either way. Just make sure you topdress with grass seed in the fall and corn gluten in the spring (these two do not go in the same season)

The Perennial Ryegrass is the best establishing grass for top-dressing in research trials I read but if you want a blend - that's all to the good as well. Frankly, it's far easier to find a blend than a straight seed package of the ryegrass. So go with the blend for both topdressing and bare-ground establishment (practical advice) :-)

Glad you liked the organic lawn ebook. :-)
