Iris Not Flowering With Right Color

I planted purple Iris in my garden and they flower yellow. What could cause this?

Doug says - not to put too fine a point on it but the tag on the pot was wrong. This happens all the time with plants that garden shops purchase through brokers. The cheaper the plant, the more likely this is to be true.
