WHITE VARIETY OF LIGULARIA?
by: Connie Hoge

No-
It is Garlic Mustard, Alliaria petiolata, a very damaging invasive plant. Even the deer won't eat it. But the Baltimore Checkerspot mistakes it for the only plant that it's larvae can eat. and lays eggs on it. So her babies starve, and we are rapidly loosing the Baltimore Checkerspot species.
G.M. is a biennial and easily thwarted. Just pull it whenever you see it. But don't let it go to seed! The seeds will ripen on an uprooted plant, just like a Dandelion, so be sure to bag them. And if you don't compost hot, be sure not to compost G.M.
