This tall plant with large green leaves and red flowers is growing in my neighborhood. Does anyone know it's name?

You have been very helpful. It was wonderful getting a quick response. Since it's poisonous, I'm not sure that I want to try it. It would definitely be an annual in my area. Thanks again, I really appreciate it.

Carmecita Red Castor Bean

Such a neat and interesting plant. They are usually green but now there are red and pink varieties. I got my red castor bean seeds from Pinetree Gardens where they call theirs - Carmecita Red. There may be other red variety seeds out there tho.

Nice photo. Yes, That is castor. Here, in Biloxi, MS. (zone 8b) it is still an annual, even for an especially mild winter for this area. If you are in zones 9 or 10 I am not too sure. Though, these are poisonous if eaten by children or pets, therefor treat it accordingly. Good luck.

I agree, this plant looks like a castor bean. It is not winter hardy in your area, but collect seeds to plant next year. My neighbour grows them here in Windsor, Ontario.

Looks like castor bean to me. You will need to look it up to see if a perennial. I sort of think not. depends on your area too.
