lifting and storing lilies

by Leslie
(Southern Ontario)

I want to dig up some of my lilies and store the bulbs so I can take them with me when I move. I need to lift them this fall and can't plant them in the new garden till next spring. Should I dig them up and store them in paper bags in a cool dark place until I can plant them after the winter?

Doug says that this sounds like a good plan to me. Let them sit for a few days to dry off the soil and gently brush most of it off (don't remove the outer layers of the bulb skin to "clean" it.) But once the soil is completely dry, most brushed off, the bulb can be stored.
