Lychnis atrosanguinea, magenta/crimson flowers, start off like lambs ear plants and have been confused myself on this one!! 2-3 feet high. Like sun, and well drained/dry soil.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR ANSWER. I LOVE THESE FLOWERS. THEY ARE VERY BRIGHT, AND ARE IN ALMOST FULL SHADE WITH LITTLE WATER. CAN'T BELIEVE HOW TALL THEY GOT!

I found this plant 20 years ago in Chattanooga TN I was told that the old fashioned name for it was "Screaming Magenta". When it blooms, it is a car stopper....people would knock on my door to ask about it...my ex-husband even asked if he could have a few plants to take with him when he moved out...:0)
