Mystery Perennial

by Lee Smitherman
(Olive Branch, MS)

This plant looks like lambs ear foliage, but the stem is tall and slender with purple flowers. They have come up every summer in my grandparents (deceased) yard. They house is in Holly Springs, MS and is zone 8-9. They are growing beneath sporadically underneath some very large pine trees that cast a heavy shade all day long on the growing area, but it does receive morning light. They have survived very well without any care even through our hottest and driest summers here. They are pretty, but I'm not sure if they are a weed or a beneficial perennial. Trying to decide if I should move them to my garden.
