Mystery shrub?

by Jonathan McCabe
(Camarillo, CA, USA)

This plant is growing in our backyard. It is entwined within the chain link fence. It has finally started to bloom in June. It is under the shade of some large Ficus trees but does get some afternoon sun. It is quite tall, 10-12 feet.

I should also say that the petals are rather thick, 5 of them are the insides of the "bud", I don't know the scientific term for this. The pistils are a lot like a bottle brush in appearance, this is not too clear from my photo.
