Valerian!
by: Anonymous

This is valerian. Delicious smelling bienneal. Just a basal rosette of leaves the first year, sends up yummy flower stalk the second. Will self seed (but not too much, just enough to make a few plants for next year) if you let it. Dig the root in the fall of the first year for a nice sleep aid. Use it to make tea or preserve in enough alcohol to cover the chopped root for tincture. Dose is 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon.
