One tree, two large bushes, and one very thorny plant

by Amethyst
(Alvarado, TX)

I recently moved to Alvarado, Texas. The weather is sunny and humid, especially in the summer. I live in a zone 7 area, and I think my soil is considered red clay.
This picture is of a weed. I've named the weed "Bad Mamma Jamma" because I feel I'd need to bring an army to get rid of her. The leaves are covered in thorns, as are the buds before they bloom. When the buds bloom, its a lavender color.

There's a reason why it's thorny!

I reckon that's a Scotch thistle.
