Plant Identification

You want some plant identification assistance and you've come to the right place.  We have some helpful gardeners that take the time to help you figure out what it is you're growing.

Note - if you have questions that are not about identifying plants, please use the forms on the appropriate pages.  For example, if you have a bulb question, please use the form on the bulb page (found on the left hand navbar)

The rules for submitting are really simple.

The plant has to be an outdoor plant - temperate climate and not tropical

You have to give us a good picture.  It must show us leaves.  It must show up the flower or fruit as well if at all possible.
It is much easier for our group of helpful gardeners if you give them a good picture to work from.

It has to be close enough to see the detail of the leaves. Do not give us a big picture of the tiny plant in the background (that we can barely make out) and ask us what it is.   Folks, if we can't see it, we can't help you.

Tell us about where the plant is growing.  (city, town, state/province)

Tell us what conditions the plant is growing in (sun/shade, soil condition)

You can answer questions and comments in the comments section.

Let me suggest you thank the volunteers who help you. :-)

Do You Need a Plant Identified

If you have a plant that you'd like a name for, show it to us right here (but see the details above first)

We'll do our best to identify it.

Again, the picture must show a closeup of the leaf and flower or fruit. No long distance shots please.
