post blight garden care

by Kathy
(Syracuse, N.Y.)

I lost all of my tomatoes this summer to blight...I pulled all the plants out of my garden and plan to turn the soil over for the winter..anything else I can do to the soil to help prevent another recurrence next summer?

Doug says make sure all the tomato leaves and stems are sent to the landfill. Don't compost them.

Add compost next spring in the highest quantities you can find. And/or make copious amounts of compost tea. This is going to help your plants develop great growth and health.

Rotate crops etc etc

But no - there's nothing in particular you need to do (or can do) at this time for blight protection next spring
