Pruning Trumpet Vines

by Michelle
(Brockport NY)

I'm just starting with gardening and some people tell me to cut my trumpet vines back to the ground in the fall and others say to just trim off any excess - please help!

Doug says that this plant can't be hurt by any pruning known to man nor beast. I'd prune it to the size you want it to grow - or not. It usually only requires pruning to confine its growth or shape it.

Adding - you prune all vines when they are dormant and not actively growing

Should it be pruned in the fall or the spring?
