Purple Flower

Tradescantia ("Spiderwort"). When the flowers fade and the stems get droopy, cut it down to within a few inches of the ground. It will flower again.

Looks like Spiderwort to me too. Also called Virginia Dayflower. Prop. name: Tradescantia virginiana.

It can be invasive. It is suggested to cut them back when the leaves start to turn, and before it can set seeds to help keep it under control.
