I have Russian Sage, Liatrus and loosestrife. This is loosestrife.

The Unknown Plant
by: Steph

This is Purple Loosestrife or Lythrum. In and of itself, it is a fabulous plant, but unfortunately, it grows invasively in waterways and bog areas and has been banned from planting in some states. Good luck with your garden!

I'm betting on liatris

Liatris blooms in spikes like that, and has that type of growth habit.

Might be liatrus, might be loosestrife but it is not russian sage.

Looks like Purple Loosestrife
by: Donna

Purple Loosestrife can grow up to 2 meters (6'). The plant is considered an invasive weed for wetlands. Substitutes given for the plant are Spiked Gayfeather (Liatrus) also called Blazing Star or Fireweed. See link for more info: www.purpleloosestrife.org/faq/index.html

Your flower most probably is

of the Liatris species maybe the Liatris scariosa which can grow to six feet tall. These flowers are also known by the common names "Gayfeathers" and "Blazing Stars." It is definitely not Russian Sage.
