It's a tulip. It may be too deeply burried. It might be a Kauffmania tulip.

It looks like a tulip that may be stunted because of where it is growing. I'm not insulting your yard, I am going by the background in the photos. Also, there are shorter tulips now that are said to be good for the front of a garden. The little red plant looks so cute sitting there by itself. Do you watch for it to come back in the spring?
