rhubarb stem color

This is the second year for my rhubarb and it grew very well. Problems is....the stalks are still green. I was so looking forward to a pie. Why are they still green?

Doug says there are green-stemmed varieties and red-stem varieties. Sounds like you have a green-stemmed variety.
