septic tanks

how far from the septic tank do you need to plants veggies?

Doug says that generally speaking you don't have to worry about it. The vegetables won't invade the bed tiles (they should be too far down for annuals and the roots disappear after harvest anyway) and the water in the tiles isn't going to be a problem for the plants (quite the opposite).

Having said that - I was told by one reader that her municipality had a bylaw about it (go figure that somebody would have something to say) so I'm officially telling you that you should check with your local health unit or bylaw enforcement folks.
