Slate garden

Our new slate garden.
Replacement for bulbs that never came up and a lawn that was forever full of weeds and never really grew - courtesy of the monolithic building stones and Axminster carpet left behind by the builders when they turfed our front garden.

Investigating the reason for the bad growth in the garden we did a little digging. Several 3 foot by 2 foot sandstone blocks dug in lengthways and a carpet that goes under next doors lawn were under there!!

Re: No mowing

Thanks Saphy, I do admit to a wee smile when I hear someone starting their lawnmower.

PS hedge belongs to next door neighbour, so no hedge cutting for us either. I like gardening!!

You don't have to MOW!!!!

Very neatly done... don't feel badly... in Arizona we have gravel instead of grass anyway...

Our small culde sac is on the site of an old house - listed became the housebuilders HQ then "mysteriously fell to bits and had to be demolished". We moved in before they finished the last houses and were amazed to see the front gardens being finished by a JCB's shovel tamping down the earth, half bricks, bits of pipe etc. whereupon the turf was laid. Everyone in our street has a garden fork with a broken tine!

Begs the question - Did they simply flatten the house and build over the top?
