Bamboo can grow fast and will be tall green stalks with what looks like joints in it. Will be hollow if cut. If you do not want to get ride of it but want to keep it from going anywhere else you need to dig at least 6" deep around it. The bamboo we have does not flower but I know that there is several differnt types.

it looks like a weed we had called dumb cane - VERY invasive and hard to eradicate. Dig, dig, dig. When it is all up, check weekly for the next batch and dig that.

Sad to say, I think this is the very invasive Japanese Knotweed.
