Oh thank you so much! I just googled Lychnis and found some images of it, just as you said! Well done! I'm glad it's not a weed but a prolific self-seeder . Thanks so much - I might just go out and buy some white as they look pretty:

it looks like the picture is hanging upside down lol
The plant looks like a Lychnis (also available in white). The leave are a gray green and soft to the touch. Don't confuse it with Lamb's Ear (Stachys).
