Tomatoes rotting at bottom

Why are my tomatoes not ripening and getting rotten at the bottom?

Doug says it's called blossom end rot and it's described right here. and in my e-book on tomato growing in more detail. Bottom line - watering problem or too cold when pollen sets. Mostly a watering problem.
