trimming honeysuckle vines

my honeysuckle vine is overgrown. how and when do I prune it and how far down

Doug says - trim and prune when the vine is dormant. Before it really starts throwing new buds and shoots for this spring. That basically means anytime between leaf drop in the fall and startup again in the spring.

Pruning? How far? How brave are you? :-) You can pretty much prune this plant with a lawnmower and it will regrow. But I like to bring them back to boundaries I want, leaving a few obvious fat buds on each stem to regrow. A fast growing and self-repairing vine, you can play around with pruning because you really won't kill it.
