Unplanted bulbs?

If kept in the right conditions, how long can an unplanted bulb remain viable for planting? And what is the best method for storing bulbs if you are moving them from one place to another?

Doug says it depends on the bulb but you're likely looking at 5-7 months (give or take a bit). Drying out is going to get it - too much humidity will start it growing. Fine line to keep it going the 5-7 months.
