Thanks for letting me know! I will remember that in the future!

links to outside websites
by: Doug

Morgan - if I remember correctly, there were previous posts containing links to outside websites in this thread. I get so many "interesting" spam and porn links posted to my sites that I simply don't have time to click through to them all to make sure they're good- so my standard policy is to automatically delete all links to outside websites. Sorry if your good link got caught in this but I do hope you understand

Himalayan Balsam
by: Morgan Houston

Im not sure what is happening to the comments but it was posted first by Jane B and by myself twice this curious little flower is a Himalayan Balsam! very invasive, delicate flowers are filled with seeds that blow everywhere.

not sweet peas

Yes, definitely looks like "Poor Man's orchid." And, yes, it's invasive.

Impatiens
by: hopflower

No; those are not sweet peas. I think from the picture that they are Poor Man's Orchid or jewel weed. These are the species version of impatiens, believe it or not. I am an avid sweet pea grower, though and these are definitely not lathyrus.

yay! it has a name!
by: Morgan

Thank you so much for naming it for me! too bad its so invasive almost weed like, it truly is a pretty flower.

Thanks again
Morgan

Pink wildflower
by: Jane B

Definitely not a sweet pea. My best guess is wild balsam or pink jewelweed, also called touch- me-not. You will see why if you touch a seed pod! It is a pretty and fascinating plant that also comes in orange - although some say it is invasive.

But not being able to see clearly the identifying features of this beautiful plant I suggest that you take a look at some of the sites that identify flowers by their blossom color, number of petals, leaf shape and distribution, height etc.
