virginia creeper in Orkney Islands

Dear Doug,
I have read your tips about growing Virginia Creeper and I wonder how it would do in Orkney Islands, UK. We have gale force winds in here every autumn - how does it deal with that? I know it would, most likely, loose its beautiful leaves before they turn properly red, but I'd love to be able to have it covering the walls, even if it is only during the summer... Also, winters in here can be pretty wet - how do you think it would do? Is it worth giving it a go?
Best regards - and thank you for your fantastic website!
Anna

Doug says that this plant is a weed out here on our island in Lake Ontario. We get to -40C and high winds so I'd be willing to bet you'd be fine with it.
