what do I do with my calla lily

by Carol
(Virginia)

I have a calla lily that was sent to my mothers funeral, I want to keep it but it looks dreadful, is it possible to cut them off and have them come back? It looked ok ontil I put it outside,

Doug says that you can plant this in the ground and it will be fine. It will not likely bloom again this year but with a little care and attention, you'll be fine. Cut off the flowers for sure but leave the leaves alone until it sprouts new ones (then cut off the ugly old ones) as the old ones are still working to pump energy into the roots.

See this article on the care and feeding of Calla Lily (florists calla are really a plant called Zantedeschia) :-) Not hard to do at all. Good luck.
