Look up 'Moth Plant' and see if this is what you have. If this is what you have, you probabbly don't want it around children. Good Luck!
Looks like a Mirliton (Chayote) .....

An Aztec (S. American vegetable) of which everything is edible. However, check this out.. because the leaves on your plant look a little slimmer than they should be. Take your photo around to good farmer's markets and/or nurseries and ask around. This is a popular vegetable in Louisiana.
