White spots on parsley leaves

by Kelly

My flat leaf parley has little white spots on several of the leaves - should I be concerned?

Doug says it depends. If the plant is last year's plant that your brought in, then I'd say no - you're going to be throwing it away shortly because it's simply running out of energy (likely some leaf spot fungus of some kind). They don't last all winter and just run out of energy. Little white spots could be feeding spots from aphids or spider mites. I'd want to control for those otherwise they'll get on the rest of your plants (and give you some protein when you eat the parsley). An insecticidal soap works wonders on these guys. Do follow the label instructions.

If it's a seedling, I'd say there's several options for why this happens but as you don't say what it is or how you're growing it or how large it is, I'm not able to tell you what's going on. Sorry. But with small white spots - I'd be checking for tiny insects or webs under the leaves.

Good luck.
