Catalpa Tree

Glad I could help! Aren't the flowers pretty? Since yours are dwarfed by cold, the flowers are down where you can enjoy them close up. Ours in Maryland are away up there;-)

OMG, thank you Connie!! I have been trying for years to figure out what those bushes were. There are 2 of them in the hedgerow. I have never cut them in the 17 years I've been here. After doing some research now that I know what they are, I'm thinking they've remained bush size due to the fact we have harsh winters. The research indicates this tree prefers warmer climates - or at least a lot warmer than snow capital Syracuse. Anyhoo, thank you very much for the ID!

Lucky you! This is actually a tree, a Catalpa tree. It has probably been cut off at the ground for many years, thus the bushy form. Here is a good link:
