I think they are Sun Drops
by: Anonymous

It looks like a Sun Drop to me. I got some of these from a friend a few years ago, and they spread nicely, especially the ones that get the most sun. Mine are starting to bloom now (mid-June).

What is this perennial?

Sorry, but this is neither an oenothera nor the meadow buttercup. Look at photos of these 2 --the foliage is completely different. Note the four flower buds at the very top of the plant. The stems are neither thin nor thick and the leaves are an ovoid shape!! Can anyone identify this...my grandmother called it bread&butter flower.

Oenothera flower

Looks like an Oenothera. I have a similiar one in my garden-one of my first perennials.

Looks like oenothera also known as sun drops or evening primrose.

Meadow Buttercup
by: Moira, Scotland

Five oetals is the clue here. Its a meadow buttercup. Usually seen as a weed by most gardeners but a truly sunny and cheery plant for the wild flower or cottage garden. I love to see them popping up in my own garden.
